Requirements

Fresh PhD holders (Biological Sciences) may also apply. Training provided for PhD holders with no prior experience.

Provide genetic counseling to patients and families, including pre- and post-test counseling for hereditary and reproductive genetic conditions.

  • Interpret clinical and molecular genetic test results (e.g., NGS panels, whole exome/genome sequencing, karyotyping, candidate gene studies) in the context of patient phenotype and family history.
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinical geneticists, and laboratory staff to formulate diagnostic and management recommendations for patients with suspected or confirmed genetic disorders.
  • Design, conduct, and analyze genetic and genomic research studies, including cohort and candidate gene association studies.
  • Prepare clear, accurate genetic counseling reports and case summaries for referring clinicians and patients.
  • Stay current with advances in medical genetics, genomics, and counseling best practices, and contribute to variant classification (ACMG/AMP guidelines) and case review discussions.
  • Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant writing, and presentation of research findings at scientific and clinical conferences.
  • Support the development and validation of new genetic tests and protocols in collaboration with the laboratory team.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant ethical, legal, and regulatory standards for genetic testing and patient confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Biological Sciences, Human Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of human genetics, molecular diagnostics, and genetic counseling principles.
  • Demonstrated experience with genetic/genomic data analysis and interpretation (e.g., NGS, Sanger sequencing, variant calling and annotation).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex genetic information to patients and families with empathy and clarity.
  • Strong scientific writing skills, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications or a completed doctoral thesis.
  • Familiarity with relevant genetic counseling and diagnostic guidelines (e.g., ACMG/AMP variant classification standards).
